Behavior Management
To find the best classroom management system for my teaching style I researched and tested several different methods. After reading many articles, books, and blogs, I found one that has worked wonders in my classroom. Essentially, students earn and lose "warm fuzzies" for their behaviors. On Fridays we have trading day in which students can trade their earned "warm fuzzies" for reward coupons. The biggest perks to this method are:
Students are eager to complete daily assignments.
Students earn "warm fuzzies" for finishing their homework, passing AR tests, and completing morning work. By passing out "warm fuzzies" for completing daily assignments, I have created a very obtainable goal for each student.

Students are "tricked" into learning.
In order to trade in their "warm fuzzies" for reward coupons, students must count out the appropriate number of "warm fuzzies". The small ones are worth 1 point, and the big ones are worth 5 points. Students are unknowingly reviewing counting by ones and by fives. I have yet to hear a student complain about counting their "warm fuzzies" in my class!

It costs nothing!
Not only is this system free of charge, (the reward coupons that students trade for are things like, "Stinky Feet" and "Sit in the Teacher's Chair") it also saves time. Instead of students needing to get up from a lesson to "clip up", students are able to stay focused and engaged on every valuable lesson. P.S. Students really enjoy the rewards!

In order to give credit where it is due, I found this brilliant management plan on this blog.
